I bought some used decorations for my aquarium that are covered in soap. How do I clean it off?

I suggest filling abucket with warm water and letting the decorations soak for about 15 minutes oruntil all of the hardened soap is softened. Then run them under warm water, individually, to get all of the soap outof the little nooks and crannies. If yoususpect there might still be some soap clinging to the decorations, leave themovernight in a bucket of warm water with some salt and rinse them individually againin the morning.

How can I prevent my Saltwater aquariums from accumulating so much salt on the outside of the tank.I have to clean saltwater build up at least every 3 days.I have a 125 Gallon and also a 55 Gallon Sal

I am no expert on saltwater tanks, but I am wondering what temperature you are keeping the tanks. The water evaporation rate of the tank depends on the temperature and humidity of the room the tank is in. Lowering the tank temperature to around 70-72 `F and increasing the ambient humidity to 60+% RH will reduce evaporation which will result in less salt encrustation.

I would really like to decorate my aquarium in an Asian inspired theme. Can anyone recommend some good decorations I could use to make my theme idea come to life?

I will send you some sites that I think are worth viewing. Asian themed decorations are actually quite popular; you should not have any trouble finding enough to decorate your tank. http://www.aquariumguys.com/asian-decorations.html http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aquarium-Ornaments-Vintage-Asian-Theme-Group-10-Pieces-HAF-/110833020616#ht_763wt_1397 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KUzAMdR7fk

I have seen images of aquariums with fake cities built underwater. I find them very fascinating and would like to duplicate that in my own aquarium. Can we use my sons old toys rather than buying a set of decorations?

No, you cannot use your sons play toys. Unfortunately, these products may leak toxins that can ultimately be very harmful to your fish. If you want to design an underwater city, you will need to purchase aquarium specific decorations.

Is it safe to use an exotic terra snake cave in an aquarium as a fish hide?

I think using a cave marketed for reptiles would be fine. Three things to consider:Was the cave previously used in a reptile habitat? When I use rocks from outside I usually boil them to kill any bacteria or microbes that may be harmful to the fish. If the cave is not plastic or wood, I would recommend doing the same.Is the cave painted? Some people are concerned about paint harming their fish. I assume most paint would be fine, but make sure it won't flake off in the water.Living Plants? I hate to state the obvious, but the plant will die and the fish may or may not have difficulty if they eat the plant. All in all, I wouldn't worry too much about the cave. Just make sure it's clean and let your fish enjoy it!
